Although the process of turning animal hide into Leather dates back to 1300 BC. It was for many years deemed very expensive for use on suites of Furniture so therefore you would not see it too often in homes. However more sophisticated processes coupled with more competition from freed up world trade means that it is now more affordable and fashionable.
